Niuland District Administration organised an awareness programme on Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Roll 2026 on 21st August 2026 at DC’s Conference Hall, Niuland. The purpose of organising the program was to create awareness to the public about the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll, undertaken by the Election Commission of India.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Niuland, Athsangla, while delivering the welcome address said that the purpose of the meeting was to ensure that every eligible citizen was included and to remove every ineligible or duplicate voters. The ADC clarified that Niuland is a full-fledged administrative district functioning without a separate election office. All Election related matters of Niuland are still functioning and operating under Chumoukedima district, as per the direction prescribed by the Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, she added.

ADC & ERO, Chumoukedima, T Lemlila Sangtam, while delivering the overview on SIR 2026, urged the leaders present to make sure that no eligible voters are left out and to make sure that all the information furnished to the election officials are correctly informed. She said clean election is possible only if there is a clean electoral.

ADC & ERO Medziphema, James Swu, highlighted the implementation of SIR 2005 and 2026. Swu urged the members to assist and co-operate with the Electoral Officer and enroll all eligible voters as soon as possible. He also clarified that on the ongoing enumeration form (EF) drive, no eligible voters should be denied due to the failure of producing documents. The ADC also stated that passport is compulsory, while the other necessary documents should be produced if and only when the election officials summoned for clarification.

Meyietele, Assistant Programmer Election Branch, gave a briefing on SIR schedule, Enumeration process and activities to be undertaken. EAC & AERO 4 Ghaspani-1, Omegali Chaired the meeting.

Shortage of polling stations under Aghunaqa area were deliberated during the discussion hour.
