The Axis Bank Jalukie branch was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister, T. R. Zeliang on 30th September 2026 at Jalukie Town.
In his inaugural speech, T. R. Zeliang highlighted the importance of farmers’ access to institutional credit stating that such access can enable farmers to purchase seeds, equipment, and livestock. He further noted that institutional credit can provide young entrepreneurs with the capital needed to start businesses, support small traders, and help existing enterprises expand.
Zeliang said that the Axis Bank Jalukie branch will become more than just a place for routine banking transactions, but will also serve as a partner in the economic development of Jalukie and Peren district as a whole. He encouraged Axis Bank to study the specific economic potential of the region and develop products and services suitable to local needs.
He also urged the bank to extend its services beyond Jalukie town to the surrounding villages and communities, while supporting farmers in expanding and strengthening their agricultural activities in the district.
He said that the day was not merely the inauguration of another bank branch, but the beginning of a new institutional relationship between Axis Bank and the people of Jalukie. He congratulated the management and officials of Axis Bank, as well as everyone whose efforts had made the occasion possible. He expressed hope that the new branch would contribute significantly to greater financial inclusion and play an important role in the economic development of the region.
Speaking on behalf of the bank, Cluster Head of Axis Bank Ltd., Dimapur Cluster, Poujaulung, highlighted that Axis Bank functions as a universal banking institution offering a comprehensive range of financial services through retail, corporate and digital channels. He said the bank remains focused on understanding and meeting the needs and expectations of its customers while striving to enhance their overall banking experience.
