District Administration of Noklak organised a programme for distribution of football and volleyball on 7th September 2020 at Public Ground, Noklak.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, Reny Wilfred, IAS, stated that, physical activities promote positive mental health and challenged the players to have physical activities which is paramount in maintaining physical and mental fitness.

He also highlighted on the importance of having Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) in the district.  In every district, NYK is functioning with a mandate to provide Football, Volleyball and other sports equipments to 25 villages every year besides other youth activities. It has also a provision for block level Sports meets, leadership training among many others for the youth promotion and development. DC stressed to have NYK with proper District Coordinator to be started at the earliest with the support of State and Central government to ensure proper youth engagement and development.

He encouraged the youth to organised District Level Football, Volleyball and Badminton tournaments in district. DC also expressed his appreciation to the Youngsters for their regular practice and training despite of the limited facilities in the Public Ground.

SDO (C) Noklak C.Phuniang who also spoke on the occasion, stated that, the District Administration took the initiative to distribute footballs and Volleyballs after seeing the potential and enthusiasm of the young players of the district. He encouraged the youngsters to keep higher goals to achieve in the field of games and sport and to train and play with that enthusiasm. Meanwhile, he mentioned studies and other priorities should not be neglected. He lamented that, many talented players who could be groomed to become sports champions of tomorrow from the district is hindered by not having even the basic minimum requirement.

Deputy Commissioner Noklak, Reny Wilfred, IAS gifted away, football and volleyball to Nokyan ‘B’ Village, Kusong Village, Timex Welfare Society and Junior Boys of Noklak Village, Excel United Club, High School ‘A’ team and junior team of Punyaongan Ward of Noklak Town. The distribution programme was attended by Administrative officers, DBs, Civil Societies and youths.
