NPSA CELEBRATES GOLDEN JUBILEE

Nagaland Police Service Association (NPSA) celebrated its Golden Jubilee at Nagaland Police Officers’ Central Mess, Chumukedima on 27th November 2021 with Deputy Chief Minister Nagaland, Y. Patton as the Special Guest and Director General of Police Nagaland T. John Longkumer, IPS as the Guest of Honor.

Speaking on the occasion, Patton congratulated the members of NPSA on attaining fifty years of unforgettable moments. He said the Nagaland Police Service occupies a position of being a “Premier Service” under the State Government. He said that the role of the NPS Cadre holds a great significance due to the fact that its members are playing a crucial role in the field level and may be termed as the backbone of the Police Department in the State and their contribution have been acknowledged by the government in many ways he added. He emphasized to continue on modern, effective and sensitive security architecture that inspires a sense of safety among all sections of society and it is vital to continue updating area of skilling, research and capabilities of the police force he added. 

The Deputy Chief Minister assured that the Government is committed to address any genuine grievance of the Police Force and urged upon all to continue in rendering their sincere and dedicated services to the people in keeping with the Nagaland Police Motto “Security, Service and Sacrifice”. 

Patton said the NPS officers serve as the backbone for maintaining public order & safety enforcing the law, and preventing detecting and investigating criminal activities. He added that the since inception of the state and the tumultuous period of insurgency, the NPS officers have been in the forefront to serve and protect the Naga people and a number of officers have paid the ultimate sacrifice in laying down their lives for the peace & security of the state and the country. He mentioned that though the accountability for traditional responsibility such as crime investigation, prevention and detection of crime remain primary, police today face far too many dynamic challenges that emerge in the form of social, cultural & technological changes so, the need of the hour demands proactive, transparent policing in sync with the aspirations of society and national policy. He said that there is a need for congruent responses amidst the maze of every emerging technological option and the police must gear up to meet the security aspirations of a well-informed society which demands transparency & prompt justice delivering system.

The programme was chaired by General Secretary, NPSA Shouka Kakheto, NPS. Presidential Address was delivered by President NPSA, Teisovise Metha, NPS. Special song was presented by Kihika Sumi Chishi, NPS while vote of thanks was delivered by Asst. Secretary, NPSA K. Lucy Yhome, NPS.
