The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has informed that the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘Yaas’ has crossed Odisha coast near Balasore and the weather condition over the entire North-eastern India is expected to deteriorate more so in Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal, Meghalaya and Nagaland. Also, the onset of Southwest monsoon over the mainland India is expected to occur around the 30th of May 2021. Both the conditions call for sensitive weather condition for the entire state of Nagaland in the coming days. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers is very likely to occur at few places over the State which will get intense and may cause disruption in communication and connectivity. The phenomenon in the weather activity is expected to take place from 26th May to 5th of June 2021 mostly during evening and night hours. During the next 48 hours and the second half of the forecast period, the State is expected to experience harsh weather conditions. The State capital Kohima remains more vulnerable for strong weather activity.

            NSDMA has urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during the period.  NSDMA has also requested all the DDMAs and other line departments who are responsible to attend to any emergencies caused by natural calamities and to be on alert to save lives and properties during the monsoon period.
