The Nagaland Secretariat Service Association (NSSA) celebrated Golden Jubilee with the theme “Braced to Excel” at Secretariat Park, Kohima on 10th December 2020 with Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Y. Patton as the special guest. 

On the occasion, Patton congratulated the Association for attaining 50 years of its inception. Over the years, the Association has always maintained high standards of professional ethics and values in the governance thereby considered as the premier association. It is also being housed in the nerve centre and working relentlessly with successive policy makers of the state government. He appreciated and thanked the Association for initiating the management and maintenance of the Park which he said will be enjoyed by not only secretariat employees but also the visitors. 

He also reminded that Jubilee was an occasion to remember the pioneers and leaders through whose sacrifices and visions that the Association has come thus far. He urged all the members to commit themselves and work with renewed vigour for the smooth functioning and development of the state.

President NSSA, Chubasangla Longkumer, in her welcome address, stated that, Nagaland Civil Secretariat Service Association is the first ever cadre service Association in the State of Nagaland, which originated from 1960’s and adopted under the chairmanship of late R. M. Dharr, Deputy Secretary, Planning Department on November, 1970, wherein late N. L Murry was inducted as the first interim president along with nine others as interim executive members.    She expressed gratitude to the members both retired and in-service who have made significant contribution over the years towards the growth of the Association so far. With motto “Committed to Serve”, the association stands firm to resolve in the conduct and discharge of public service for higher level of performance and henceforth with the pandemic the Association shouldered responsibility for everyone to stay safe through various acts and deeds in the secretariat and will continue to keep the spirit of camaraderie in work place.

On the occasion, Longkumer thanked the State Government for allowing the NSSA to adopt and maintain the Secretariat park. This park will be an ideal site for visitors and secretariat employees to relax and work free from stress, she added. Further, she acknowledged everyone who has contributed towards the up gradation of the park and encouraged every member to re-align and re-commit oneself to excel in their work and render positive and constructive service to the Government and the people of the State.

The special guest also released the Jubilee Souvenir and launched the NSS Blazer on the occasion. Advisor Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire launched a book of NSSA (Who’s Who Volume 1) on the occasion. 

On the occasion, the Association has also passed the Golden Jubilee Resolution and sealing of time capsule for the Platinum Jubilee in 2045.
