The two-day orientation programme for legislators of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly concluded at the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Kohima on 26th April 2023.

Delivering the valedictory address, Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, K.G. Kenye stated that despite the late start, the State has been doing its best to catch up with the rest of the Country in parliamentary affairs. He highlighted on some the historical political events that had happened in the State. Sharing on the anti-defection law, Kenye stated that Nagaland was the first State to test the Act. He said that over the years, new versions of laws and acts have evolved without compromising the basics, which he said is the beauty of the Indian democracy.

Kenye thanked the resource persons for teaching the parliamentary proceedings and process. He hoped that the legislators have benefited a lot from the orientation programme and are well-versed with the proceedings of the House.

Joint Secretary, NLA Secretariat, Darhu Shupao proposed the vote of thanks. The Valedictory programme was also attended by the Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer; Commissioner & Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs, Wezope Kenye and other officials.

The programme was organised by the Parliamentary Research & Training Institute for Democracies (PRIDE), Lok Sabha Secretariat. The resource persons from PRIDE, Lok Sabha Secretariat were Joint Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Vinay Kumar Mohan; Former Joint Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Ravindra Garimella; Director, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Santosh Kumar; Additional Director, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Partha Goswami, and Additional Director, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Sovan Kumar Ganguli.
