The premier festival of the Pochury community, Yemshe, was celebrated at Lephori Village on 3rd October 2026, organised by the Pochury Hoho. MLA and Advisor, NSDMA & Inland Waterways, Government of Nagaland, Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe was the Chief Host, while the Presidents of the five Pochury areas attended the celebration as Guests of Honour.

Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, in his address, underscored that the cultural festivals handed down by their forefathers were not merely occasions for celebration and merrymaking, but were deeply rooted in the values of hard work, dedication, sincerity and collective responsibility. He emphasised that every festival serves as a powerful reminder of the community’s ancestral roots, cultural identity and traditions, which must be preserved, cherished and transmitted to future generations.

He further exhorted the Pochury community to uphold the enduring values of love, mutual respect, unity and togetherness, urging the younger generation to draw inspiration from the wisdom and legacy of their forefathers and remain steadfast in carrying forward these noble values as a lasting legacy for generations to come.

DC Meluri, Phuleshe K. Yepthomi, extended his warm greetings to the Pochury community on the joyous occasion of the Yemshe Festival. In his greeting message, the DC called upon the community to celebrate the festival with unity, love, and mutual understanding, while strengthening the bonds of togetherness and honouring the invaluable contributions and sacrifices made by their forefathers for the Pochury tribe.

He further urged every section of the Pochury community to collectively protect, preserve, and promote their rich traditional culture and heritage for future generations. He also conveyed his heartfelt wishes for a happy and joyous Yemshe Festival, invoking God's blessings for peace, prosperity, and a bountiful harvest for the entire Pochury community.

The festival also featured vibrant folk-dance performances representing the five areas of the Pochury community, showcasing their rich cultural heritage and traditional practices. The celebration further included various traditional games and competitions, adding to the festive spirit and providing an opportunity to promote and preserve the community’s age-old customs and traditions.

The Yemshe Festival holds great cultural and traditional significance for the Pochury community, as it marks the welcoming of the new harvest and is observed to invoke divine blessings for a bountiful harvest, prosperity, and the well-being of the community.
