The Police Commemoration Day Parade 2022 was held at Tennis Court, New Police Reserve, Phesama, Kohima on 21st October 2022.
Director General of Police, Nagaland, T. John Longkumer, IPS while taking the salute, said that Police Commemoration Day Parade is a day to respect and pay homage to those brave policemen who laid down their lives so that we may have a better tomorrow. He stated that on 21st October 1959, a CRPF Mobile Patrolling Party led by DCIO, Karam Singh was ambushed by the Chinese Troops in Aksai - Chin Area of Ladakh, where 10 brave policemen were martyred in the battle. In recognition of their selfless sacrifice, the Commemoration Parade is held every year.
Longkumer also said that policemen and policewomen are taught to be the preserver of law & order and to protect the integrity and security of the nation. He lauded the Nagaland Police Officers and all the Police Personnel who have made supreme sacrifice in the past years till date, while performing duty. He urged the personnel gathered to not only observe a day of remembrance of those fallen comrades, but also rededicate and renew their pledge to serve the people, to secure and maintain public order, and safeguard the internal security and contribute to the development of the nation.
The number of policemen all over India who laid their lives in service of the nation stands at 264. Laying of wreaths was led by DGP followed by other officials. The Police Commemoration Day Parade was led by Parade Commander, ABSI, Paul Chawang of Kohima DEF, 1st Platoon of 4th NAP was led by Platoon Commander, ABSI Tsasel Angami, 2nd Platoon of DEF Kohima was led by Platoon Commander ABSI, Vesunu Tetseo, Brass Band was led by Hav. Ayo Sakhrie and Kisan Toli and Commander was ABSI Neibau Meofhuo of Kohima DEF.
A host of police officers, police personnel and retired police officers attended the commemoration parade.
