Livelihood Generation Programme for Returned Migrant Workers due to COVID-19 Pandemic for Nagaland was launched by Advisor Industries & Commerce, Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Imnatiba of 28th September 2020 at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima.
Addressing the launching programme, the Advisor stated that the Livelihood Generation Programme was a direct outcome of the efforts of the State Government under the leadership of the Chief Minster, Neiphiu Rio to target the issues of unemployment and displacement caused by the pandemic.
The Advisor encouraged the youth of the State to wake up to the challenges that we face and turn every problem into opportunities and stated that one must discard the negative mindset and work together to turn dreams into reality. Imnatiba also informed that the programme will be actively monitored by the Department of Industries & Commerce and will ensure transparency and impartiality.
Commissioner & Secretary, Industries & Commerce, while giving a brief statement on the implementation of the project, stated that the awareness and reorientation programme will be conducted through online process where a team of resource persons from different areas and sectors of enterprises shall be identified. He said that capacity building and skilling shall be provided based on the areas of enterprises identified by the participants and further. On successful completion of the capacity building, seed money or machinery assistance shall be provided to the participants to start their own enterprises.
Director Industries & Commerce stated that with the support of North East Council and the Government of Nagaland, the Department of Industries & Commerce has taken up the programme to support and train 100 migrant workers, who have returned to the State, build their enterprise. He informed that applicants will be screened in four stages and will select 100 number of participants for the programme.
