The month long programme of Poshan Maah 2020 under Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan culminated witha cooking competition conducted in collaboration with Wokha and Chukitong Block department ofSocial Welfare, held at Blue Hill colony, Wokha on 30th September 2020.
The cooking competition focused mainly on how to prepare food for pregnant women, lactating women and children from 0-6 years, all together 8 teams of Anganwadi workers took part in the competition. The judges for the competition are EAC, Wokha Imtinungula Longkumar, Dr.Khelito Zhimomi, DPO (RCH/UPI) Nodal Officer Poshan and SIS, FNHW, Gender Area coordinator R.Nzanbeni.
Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Orenthung Lotha who graced the culmination programmed as the special guest, said during the month long programmed many activities has been conducted to sensitize about the importance of nutrition among the pregnant, lactating mothers and children from 0-6 years involving the anganwadi workers. He also said malnutrition not only affects the health but affects mental growth as well and called for intake of proper nutrition required by our body for healthy life.
He also appealed to all persons involved in this scheme to rededicate themselves and give their best in terms of educating the people about the importance of nutrition so that our state can
also come at par with the national level.
State Project Management Unit (SPMU) team Kohima, Dr.Yongya Chiangmak who also spoke during the programmed lauded the efforts put in by Wokha team in successfully conducting various activities under this scheme and urged them to continue their hard work so that other districtcan also follow the good example in giving the nutrition message in the rural areas and level.
Tsuman & Etsuchuka colony bagged the first prize, while Blue Hill, PWD and Church colony and Vungojoju, Molontsu and GHSS got the second and third respectively. The winners were awarded with cash.
The function was chaired by CDPO, Wokha, Myanlumo Lotha, welcome address was delivered by District coordinator Poshan Abhiyaan, Shanjothung Ngullie while District Project Assistant Poshan Abhiyaan, Annie Lotha.
