To assess preparedness and containment of COVID-19, the Principal Director of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Vizolie Soukhrie along with other senior officials visited CHC Jalukie under Peren district on 6thApril, 2020 and held a meeting with the District Administration, Police and CMO staff at CHC Jalukie, Conference Hall.
A brief presentation on the district preparedness status on COVID-19 report was presented by DIO Dr. Asangla while action plan for COVID-19 was presented by the DTO cum Dy. CMO Dr. Amenla. Requirements of MO at Mbaulwa PHC and Dy. CMO at the district office was put up by CMO, Peren wherein the Principal Director assured that once recruitment is done, the requirements of the district will be met.
In the meeting, the Principal Director suggested keeping 16 to 18 beds in the COVID District Hospital and further made the following points:
- A comfortable quarantine place for health workers should be set up to quarantine the health workers and the IV grade staffs once they complete their duty period.
- To utilize PPEs judiciously. More consignments are on the way and will reach the district as soon as the Department receives them.
- To provide triple layer mask to the health workers and IV grade workers.
- To continue training and mock drill of health staffs, IV grade workers and the police personnel.
- Makeshift OPD to be taken care properly and the public should not be deprived of treatment of emergency cases.
- All COVID cases should be treated in the identified COVID Hospital of the district and there will be no interstate transfer of COVID patients. Ventilators will also be provided soon.
- An amount of 3 Lakhs will be sent to Jalukie CHC by 7th April 2020 for setting up of COVID Hospital.
- More nurses will be deputed at CHC Jalukie from District Hospital Peren and the Principal Director instructed MS to depute NHM nurses and 4th grade workers from DH Peren by 7th April 2020 and more health staffs will be sent when COVID cases arises in the district.
- Training centres of ICU technique identified in Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung. The Principal Director further requested the Medical Department of Peren district to identify health staff and send to the mentioned centres to undergo the training.
