Rapid Diagnostics test kits for Covid-19 arrived at Dimapur from N Delhi, through ICMR on 19th April 2020. The tasking was carried out and airlifted by special Dronier -228 light utility multipurpose Aircraft of the IAF.
The critical Rapid test kits was received by the Nodal Officer Dimapur, Deputy Director of Heath and Family Welfare, Dr. Tiasunup Pongener which was handed over by IAF officials.He stated that with the availability of kits now, the Nagaland Health and Family welfare department will soon start screening of suspects in the hot spots ,which would be a tremendous boost to enhance the capabilities to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, especially for the front line workers .He said he was satisfied with the preparedness of Covid-19 facilities in the District, inspite of the sudden nature of the pandemic which has surprised the entire health care system globally like a tsunami and all medical equipment are of National standards, which is also being used by other states. He further re assured that improvement of Covid-19 facility will be an ongoing continuous process and all dedicated efforts are being made in this regard by the Directorate and respective line Departments of the State Government.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also, in his tweet has stated that the much awaited rapid kits issued by Government of India for the State of Nagaland through ICMR arrived in the state by IAF special Dronier ac, based on the intervention of the State Government with the Centre and now with the rapid Kits availability, he was happy that, it can start screening the identified hot spots, which is a positive development and help the front line teams fighting the pandemic.
