A two-week-long Refresher Course Training for Stenographers was conducted from 4th to 14th July 2022 in batches for Secretariat Stenographers Grade-I, II, and III at the Civil Secretariat Complex, Kohima, Nagaland. The training was initiated by the Home Department, Secretariat Administration Branch ‘A’ to maximize the working skills of the stenographers in efficiently assisting the bureaucrats and Legislators of the State and to adapt them to the progressive dynamics of the administrative system.
Secretary, Home, Peter Lichamo, IAS who was accompanied by the officials of the Department graced the first day and exhorted the trainees to make use of such an opportunity as it was meant to re-learn the forgotten fundamental basics and hone their skills to perform their assigned duties diligently, particularly the newly recruits. A wide range of topics from office procedures to shorthand was covered by the three Resource Persons during the training and a one-day course on basic internet was also imparted at NIELIT, Meriema campus.
The training culminated with a short programme where Secretary, Home, in his concluding remark, asked the trainees to take pride in their God’s given profession as they were also an integral part of the system. Feedback on behalf of the trainees was given by Deo Movi who, while appreciating the Department’s initiative, requested to provide such training at regular intervals as it serves as a wake-up call for them to adapt and perform even better. The President of the Nagaland Secretariat Stenographers’ Association, Joy Kochummen, in his short speech, also acknowledged the Finance Department and the parent Department for providing such training to its cadre members.
The vote of thanks was given by the leader of the programme, Niengulie Krome, Under Secretary, Home. Thereafter, certificates were handed out to the Resource Persons and to over seventy Stenographers who attended the training, followed by refreshment.
