On 2nd April 2020 the Principal Director of Health & Family Welfare visited Longleng and held meeting with the doctors, nurses and medical staffs in the presence of the District Administration and Police led by the Deputy Commissioner M. Shayung Phom and Superintendent of Police Yanithung Ezung at District Hospital, Longleng. After a short briefing the Principal Director inspected the district hospital that was converted and reserved for the Coronavirus patients and later to the Government Higher Secondary School, Longleng temporarily converted to district hospital of Longleng.

In view of outbreak of COVID19 the Village Guards (VGs) of Longleng assisted by Nagaland Police have established temporary check post at Dikhu River bordering to Mokokchung district on 3rd April 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-19.  While on the other side of the Dikhu river in between Tangha village and Tamlu Headquarter the Village Council, Students Union and VGs of Tangha village had seal Dikhubridge.

The Deputy Commissioner, Longleng has banned unauthorised announcement in the town relating to COVID-19 in the district with immediate effect. Any announcement in the town on COVID-19 shall be done through the department of Information & Publication Relations (DPRO office, Longleng) after authorization from the district administration. 

The Deputy Commissioner has also prohibited usage of unauthorised vehicle/volunteer’s badge on COVID-19 in the district. Any such badges shall be permitted provide it is authorised by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng. 

The Longleng Town Students' Union (LTSU) also provided water supply to the residents of Longleng Town besides refreshments to the COVID-19 security personnel in Longleng for the last few days. 

In another circular the DC Longleng has reiterated and directed all the village council to authorise only one VCM along with a driver to purchase essential commodities for the village and should ensure that the list of commodities for purchase (in bulk) fully filled in the council's pad. It further warn  that authorization by the village council to individual for personal purpose is strictly prohibited, and the village council shall be held responsible for violation and misused of power of authorization and it shall be deemed as violation of Government order and shall be dealt with as per the relevant section of law.

The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the customers to maintain social distancing during purchase of essential commodities.

The district administration in collaboration with department of Food & Civil Supplies has started distribution of essential commodities to the people of Shayung ward beginning today at NST junction, Longleng. The Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Longleng visited the relief camp and appealed to the people to maintain social distancing while going outside especially during purchase of essential commodities and ATM booths.

The next phase of relief will be given to medical ward, Shauli ward and Nyanching ward tomorrow at Lempong junction from 12:00 Noon onwards.
