The celebration was at the local ground Wokha with Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Metsubo Jamir as the Special Guest.
Addressing the gathering during the celebration, the chief guest said today we pay homage to the countless heroes and martyrs whose sacrifices and sufferings led to the creation of this great Republic Nation. We salute our pioneers, who made significant contributions and sacrifices in the realization of Statehood, having undergone turbulent times when the Naga movement was at its peak.
Highlights of the programme included the presentation of folk songs by the Wokha Town Lakhuti Women Cultural troupe and traditional rice pounding by the Longsa Women Cultural troupe. Earlier in the morning, the feeding of jail inmates was carried out by DLSA, Mhondamo Memorial District Hospital by DCCI, Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital by SBI, and 40th Assam Rifles hospital by ANTA Wokha unit.
Eight parade contingents DEF, 7th NAP, Home Guards & Civil Defence, Ex-Service Man, NCC (Man & Women cadet), and Bharat Scout & Guides took part in March past, Assistant Commandant 7th NAP Bhandari Akhieto Sema led the match past as the parade commander.
The chief guest later in the day inaugurated the stalls put up by various departments, NGOs, and self-help groups. A football exhibition match was also played between WDFA and Deputy Commissioner XI.
