Joining the rest of the country, Chumoukedima district also celebrated the 73rd Republic Day at Chumoukedima Town Public Ground, with MLA Azheto as the special guest.
On arrival, the special guest unfurled the tri- colour National Flag, inspected the parade and took salute from the parade contingents.
Delivering the Republic Day speech, Azheto said that Nagaland has been capably marching shoulder to shoulder with all the other States and contributing in strengthening the nation in every manner and helping achieve all the developmental goals that was set. Reminding the gathering on the prevailing pandemic situation, the special guest advised them to adhere to Covid 19 appropriate behaviours and stressed on the need for mandatory wearing of masks in public places and following SOPs aimed for preventing the spread of Covid 19.
On the occasion, Azheto also highlighted on the activities and achievements of various departments. We have achieved a lot over the decades, and unitedly we should be able to make Nagaland a more developed and progressive State, he maintained.
Other highlights of the program included cultural items by Angami Folk song (Tenyiphe I) and Sumi Folk Dance (Thilixu).
