Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, inaugurated the RCC T-Beam Bridge over Dhansiri River, Dimapur on 13th April 2021. The bridge is constructed by M/s Aien Meren Enterprises and funded under 10% Lumpsum Scheme, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India
Addressing at the inaugural programme held at Dhansiri bridge (Urban Haat), Rio, while congratulating the department, the engineering wing and the contractor for successful completion of the project, reminded about the hardship and harassment faced by the citizens of Dimapur during the construction of the bridge. He urged everyone concerned to be always sincere, dedicated and to make sure all the rules are followed and to execute in a transparent manner so that all works are completed successfully within the stipulated time. He also congratulated the citizens of Dimapur and further urged to fully utilise the bridge at the same time assist the administration and police for smooth functioning and maintenance of the bridge.
Expressing serious concern over encroachment of land at various locations such as Agri expo and Dimapur Airport, Rio pointed out that the airport runway was too short for big aircraft and extension is not possible due to encroachment issues. He therefore urged everyone, when acquiring land, to do it legally and not to disturb the harmony of the community and society. He appealed to the community to come forward and government property.
Chief Engineer, PWD (H) & in-charge Urban Engineering Wing, Er. Yanbemo Lotha in his technical report stated that the project was sanctioned in March 2009 under Lumpsum Scheme for an amount of Rs. 981.36 lakhs under the ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, GOI. However, due to objection raised by the BRO on non-issuance of no objection certificate from the ministry, the project got stalled for almost 5 years, he said. He further mentioned that due to delay of the work, the contractor requested to relook into the original estimate stating his inability to carry out the work as per original agreed price for which the department revised it from 981.36 to 1374.85 lakhs after which the work started in January 2018 and completed within 2 years, which the engineer termed as one of the most economical bridge of similar kind build in Nagaland.
