            Mon District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held its meeting on 15th March 2021 at the Conference Hall, Office of Deputy Commissioner, Mon. which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K, IAS. 

            Chairman, Nagaland State Biodiversity Board, Satya Prakash Tripati IFS, present at the meeting as a special guest, highlighted the importance, role and structure of the State Biodiversity Board. He also highlighted the roles of Biodiversity Management Board at the village level and the problems faced in setting up such a board in Nagaland. He made an appeal to the board to avail the benefits of central schemes such as National Mission on Medicinal Plants and Community Forests.

            Agenda for the meeting included:

  1. Upgradation of Yingang School Aboi to Class VIII. The board deliberated on this and approved the agenda for necessary action. 
  2. Renewal of Little Angel School Welfare Society at Naginimora. The school serves children from underprivileged background and with the verification from EAC Naginimora, the board approved for necessary action. 
  3. SDO(C) Angjangyong, Yanithung Ngullie, NCS put forth an agenda for the unnotified towns in Mon. He stated that there were 10 such towns in the District which were deprived of benefits from both Rural Development and Urban Development since these town failed to reach the population criteria of a town yet at the same time were not recognized as villages.  

            He proposed for such towns to be recognized as rural settlements or population criteria for township to be relaxed and until such arrangements are made, the towns were to be covered under DUDA.  The board approved the proposal for necessary action. 

            Social Welfare Department Mon, presented a power point presentation on its various activities such as ICDS, NSAP, PMMVY and Poshan Abhiyan. 

            It was highlighted that all together there were 403 Anganwadis in the District. The total beneficiaries in Mon under PMMVY stood at 3,669 mothers with a total amount of 1.55 crores paid to the beneficiaries through DBT. The beneficiaries under NSAP in the District from six different categories stood at 7510 beneficiaries with IGNOAPS having the highest at 6166 beneficiaries.
