The skill upgradation training on Handloom Weaving under Samarth Scheme was inaugurated at District Industries Centre office in Tuensang on 15th November 2022 in the presence of Thungchanbemo Tungoe, ADC Tuensang. 

Samarth Scheme is a scheme sponsored by the Ministry of Textile, Office of the Development Commissioner (Handloom), Weavers Service Centre, Government of India. 

Tungoe encouraged all the trainees to be very serious and attentive in the training sessions. The training is about the skill up gradation in handloom and will be focusing on the small scale unorganized handloom related sector, he told the trainees. He also addressed the trainees on the importance of the scheme which will upgrade their skills so that the market will recognize their trade which will directly boost their trade. He said the scheme will help build their small-scale industries which will allow generating employment too and will lead towards sustainability. 

Naresh Jambulkar Assistant Director of Weavers Service Centre Dimapur gave the objective of the Samarth Scheme. The skill upgradation from spinning to the utilization of the handloom to shuttle loom apparatus. The Samarth scheme will be for 45 days of training which will cover 315 hours and the attendance will be a biometric system that will be monitored from Delhi, and 80% of attendance will be eligible for the certification, stipends, and other beneficiaries, he added. The trainees are assured of Rs. 300 per day to compensate wage during the time of training, he said. He also mentioned the Pechaan Card and its importance to the weavers of the district and highlighted the benefits to the cardholders in terms of loans and subsidies.
