On instances of random storage/parking of materials such as stone boulders, sand bricks, construction materials, firewood, bamboo, excavated earth etc. on National Highway 29 from Purana Bazaar to Chumukedima town causing obstruction, litter and damage of public roads, drainage and waterways, SDO (C), Chumukedima, Thejavizo Nakhro, has informed that such activities are prohibited under Section 21&54 of the Nagaland Highway Act 1967 Section 3(1) of prevention of damage to Public Property Act 1984 Section 24 of the prevention of damage to Public Property Act 1984 and whoever acts in contravention to the above cited section (s), is liable to be prosecuted under Section 57, 58 & 59of the National Highway Act 1967 Section 8 B of the National Highway Act 1956 Section 3(2) of the prevention of damage to the Public Property Act, 1984 Section 39 of the control of Nagaland Highways (Land and Traffic) Act 2002 and Section 279 & 426 of the Indian Penal Code 1860.
Therefore, having regard to the general public safety and property, SDO(c) has ordered prohibition of random storage/parking of materials like stone boulders, sand, bricks, construction materials, firewood, bamboo, excavated earth etc for commercial or personal purposes, on the National Highway 29 between Purana Bazaar to Chumukedima town. Further heavy vehicles ferrying loose earth/construction materials without tail door (rear dallah) and thereby littering the road are also prohibited.
He therefore, informed that defaulters will be liable to be proceeded against by concerned authority as per relevant sections of law.
