A seminar on "Drugs Free but Empowered Villages" was conducted at Yongnyah Village Headquarters under Longleng District on 23rd July 2023. The seminar was organized by DEF Longleng Police in coordination with Phomla Hoichem at Yongnyah Village Baptist Church.
Dr. Pritpal Kaur, IPS, SP Longleng, served as the resource person and spoke about the drug menace in Longleng and strategies to control its supply and demand chain. She urged society and the police to work together in raising awareness among the younger generations about the harmful effects of drugs and intoxicants. Dr. Kaur also explained the legal proceedings and the roles of various stakeholders in combating the drug menace. She further stressed the importance of village empowerment through hard work, honesty, and education.
The welcome address was given by Mr. Bonglom, VDB Secretary of Yongnyah Village. Mr. Tialemba, ES (PBCA), highlighted the importance of controlling drug addicts and facilitating their rehabilitation. Miss. Mano, President of Phomla Hoichen, and Ainyu also spoke about the ways to fight drug abuse, the role of women, and the significance of their empowerment. Drug dependants presented a song expressing their commitment to overcoming drug abuse.
The seminar was attended by more than 500 villagers from Yongnyah, Yongshei, Tangha, and Yongam villages. The program was chaired by Mrs. Yimngoi, Women Pastor at Yongnyah Revival Church.
