MLA, Dr. Chumben Murry inaugurated the District Soil Testing Laboratory on 26th January 2022 at District Soil Conservation Office, Wokha.
Dr. Murry congratulated the Department of Soil Conservation as well as the people of Wokha district for installing the Soil Testing Laboratory. He called upon the farmers of the district to shift from traditional farming to scientific method for optimum production by taking advantage of the soil testing lab, which provides bio-fertilizer and fertilizer quality control labs for our sustainable agricultural growth.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha who also spoke during the function, expressed hope that through the installation of the soil testing lab people of the district will be benefited to a great extent and stated that now that the testing lab is at our doorstep farmers should focus more on sustainable crop yielding for self dependency.
JSCO, Wokha Nzanbeni Jami while giving the technical report stated that soil testing, being an important component of soil health card scheme the government of Nagaland, has set up the laboratory on a priority basis. The Department of Soil and water Conservation has tied up with Octopus Company which is based in Guwahati and has set up the lab and they will be responsible for servicing and supply of chemicals whenever necessary.
The district soil testing lab is well equipped with machineries that can test 12 parameter and machines such as distillation unit, nitrogen analyser, spectrophotometers, AAS, flame photometer, PH meter, EC meter, auto burette, mechanical shaker etc has been installed. A generator, Wi-fi and water supply has been provided for smooth functioning of the lab.
