The Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's Atma Nirbhar Nidhi, PM SVANidhi, Lok Kalyan Mela, a nationwide special campaign was organized by the District Administration in collaboration with Chiephobozou Town Council on 23rd September 2026 at Town Council Hall, Chiephobozou, Kohima.
Delivering a Keynote Address, Vekusheyi Rhakho, ADC and EO, Chiephobozou said that the Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's Atma Nirbhar Nidhi, Lok Kalyan Mela under the PM SVANidhi scheme, Public Welfare Programme was launched on 1st June 2020, by the Ministry of MOHUA, Gol, to help the Street vendors as many Street vendors who face difficulty in accessing Formal Credit, in Expanding their Businesses, Adopting Digital Payments and connecting themselves with various welfare schemes. He mentioned the main objective of organizing an awareness Campaign on Lok Kalyan Mela was to bring the Government closer to the people, and more importantly, to ensure that eligible citizens are able to access the schemes and services meant for them.
Adding that PM SVANidhi scheme is a scheme for Street Vendors which seeks to address their challenges by providing access to institutional Credit and to Support. Adding that this special campaign brings together the District Administration, Urban Local Body, Banks, Government Departments and Beneficiaries in one platform in order to allow citizens to understand the scheme, help them submit applications, resolve pending issues and give guidance, without having to go from one office to another.
He encouraged the street vendors to make the best use of this opportunity and to approach the officials without any hesitation. He called upon all eligible beneficiaries to come forward and apply. He also asserted that Government schemes can succeed only when the beneficiaries are responsible, maintain timely Repayment and assured that the Administration, Town Council, financial Institutions and Line departments are committed to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out, and the benefits of Government schemes reaches the Last Mile, Last Household and last beneficiary.
The Resource persons from Department of Urban Development Agency, Thejasenuo Agnes; Branch Manager Chiephobozou Rural Bank, Sentibenla; and Chiephobozou Functional Manager, SDIC, Janet Thaprü highlighted the importance of the campaign, Lok Kalyan Mela and other welfare related schemes.
The Programme was chaired by Viketoulie Metha, EAC Chiephobozou and vote of thanks was pronounced by Khrielelie Kerhuo Chairperson, CTC. Participants from street vendors, business establishment, government officials, CTC members and bank representatives attended the event.
