A meeting  comprising members of the  special committee constituted by the State Government for Dimapur, district administration, Police, Naga Council Dimapur, Village council, GBs, DMC, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce held a meeting on 3rd April 2020, in the conference Hall of DC Dimapur, for working out on logistics on matters concerning COVID 19 pandemic.

In the meeting, Commissioner & Secretary, Kikheto Sema reminded that, the whole of Nagaland would fail if Dimapur fails and because of which the Government was focussing more in Dimapur district. We need the support of God and the Village council as far as Dimapur is concern Kikheto said and therefore appeal to the Village Council NGOs for their continued support for the wellness of the people.

IGP Training and Border, Liremo Lotha, dubbed Dimapur as a cosmopolitan city, where people from all parts of the country resides and therefore reminded about the directive given by Government of India to the State Government not to discriminate people on religious grounds connected to the present COVID 19 issue. Towards this, he urged upon the GBs, council members and administration to see that people are not ill- treated. Should there be any issue, get in touch with the Commissioner Police and District administration, he advised.

DC Dimapur Anoop Kinchi IAS, re-iterated on maintaining social distance and also reminded the public not to move unnecessarily during lockdown cautioning that police are all geared up for strict enforcement. He further assured the public not to panic about essential commodities informing that supply of essential commodities are coming continuously with the district.

Commissioner Police Rothihu Tetseo, informed that 144 Cr.Pc will not be relaxed and said that restriction of movement of persons and vehicles except those under exemption would continue till the end of nationwide lockdown. Informing that 40 locations and check gates were being manned by police at Dimapur, Tetseo assured that police would do their best and sought the cooperation of all.

In the meeting, administrator DMC, Albert Ezung informed that spraying of disinfectants of all incoming vehicles would start by 3rdApril evening with the help of Fire and Emergency Services.

The following points were also finalised in the meeting;

  1. All markets in the main town will continue to remain closed but shops dealing with essential commodities and pharmacies in colonies/villages would be allowed to cater to public needs.
  2. Wholesale market will be permitted to open from 3am to 8am at GS Road from Monday. However buying from this area will be permitted only with written permission from the concern administrative officer/GB/Village Council.
  3. The retail shops in colonies/wards/villages will be permitted to open from 9am to 2pm starting Monday.
  4. To create wider public awareness on COVID 19, announcement in all the 96 colonies and villages within the district to be carried out with the help of DPRO Dimapur and Village councils.
