A spot round counseling session for the selection of candidates for medical and allied courses was conducted at the Directorate of Technical Education in Kohima on August 18, 2023.

The counseling aimed to fill Nagaland state reserved seats for MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, and BASLP courses for the academic session 2023-2024 based on the NEET (UG) 2023 Merit. The process was conducted transparently with a merit-based selection approach. The State Common Selection Board Committee, including Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba, Addl. Secretary H&TE, Sentiyanger Pongen, Director cum Dean NIMSR Kohima, Prof. Dr. Soumya Chakraborty, Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu, the shortlisted candidates, and their parents were present.

Director of Technical Education, Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu, mentioned that the Government of India has allocated a total of 152 MBBS seats. Out of these, 42 seats were allotted for the Government of India, 10 for Imphal, 3 for Tripura, 10 for Meghalaya, 2 for Assam, and 85 for Nagaland.

Addl. Secretary H&TE, Sentiyanger Pongen, encouraged students to remember their motherland and extend help to their fellow citizens. He stressed the importance of thinking about the people of Nagaland and providing services to them, especially considering the limited medical facilities in the state, which often leads to higher treatment costs outside the state.

Director cum Dean of NIMSR Kohima, Prof. Soumya Chakraborty, expressed gratitude towards the Government of Nagaland and the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare for their support. She congratulated the merit candidates on their selection.

The counseling included filling the seats for the first batch of 85 MBBS students from Nagaland for NIMSR, and 12 seats for BDS.
