I. Meyionen Jamir, State Chief Information Commissioner called on S. Radha Chauhan, Secretary, Personnel & Training GoI, New Delhi on 29th August 2022, and discussed issues relating to effective implementation of the RTI Act. The misuse of the Act by the RTI applicants for their personal benefits and the absence of any punitive provisions to tackle such cases in the Act were discussed.

Meyionen requested for amendment of the Act to incorporate appropriate measures to check the criminal activities by information seekers. S. Radha Chauhan appreciated the Chief Information Commissioner for bringing notice to the aforementioned issues and assured to look into the matter.
