Dr. Pankaj Gupta, State Co-ordinator of PMU of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India visited Mon District on 20 & 21st January 2021 and a meeting was held on 21st Jan 2021at DC Conference Hall Mon with District Administration and Master Volunteers of Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign.

Ilika Zhimomi, SDO (Civil) Mon welcomed Dr.Pankaj Gupta and Wango Konyak Assistant Director, Directorate of Social Welfare and the Master Volunteers. She briefed the house on the calander of events scheduled under Nasha Mukt Bharat. The proposed activities aimed at creating awareness among the general public about the ill effects of substance Abuse. She also gave a power point presentation on the activities and initiatives undertaken in the District.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pankaj highlighted the important role of Master Volunteers in tackling substance Abuse in the country. He encouraged the Master Volunteers to provide continuous feedback and undertake initiatives best suited to the prevailing social conditions. Wango Konyak assured the District Administration of the support and assistance of the Department in its fight substance abuse. He commended the District on the activities undertaken so far and encouraged the Church and Civil Societies to undertake activities focussed on steering the people away from substance abuse.
