The State Level Science Seminar, 2021 was held at the Mini Conference Hall of the Directorate of School Education, Kohima on 10th December 2021 with Principal Director, Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, Shanavas C. IAS, as the speaker. The Topic for the year’s Science Seminar was ‘Boosting Immunity- The Need of the Hour, prospects and Challenges’. The Competition was held on virtual mode. Altogether 10 Participants from Kohima, Dimapur, Tuensang, Phek, Kiphire, Peren, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mon and Mokokchung participated in the Competition.
The Principal Director in his speech stressed on the importance of Science and expressed that science, as a subject, offers so many opportunities for students. He lamented on the absence of students in the program owing to the pandemic but hoped for better opportunities for students to participate and better exposure through those type of programs in the days to come. He expressed that those type of seminars and exhibitions help students to grow and build for a better future as it builds their confidence level and they learn from each other. He also said collective effort is needed by line departments like SCERT, NBSE, DSE etc and we need to collaborate and work together to motivate our students to participate in these kind of competitions.
The panel of judges for the year’s seminar were, Deputy Director, School Education Emilo, Vilakhole, Research Associate, SCERT and Dr. Rokovikho Dominic, Assistant Professor, Kohima Science College.
The participants were earlier made to undergo an aptitude test on Google format arranged by Tosovi Philip, GT (Science), GHS PWD and the marks scored by the students were added to their performances in the seminar. Basing of the two performances, Tsupongla S from Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Kohima was declared the Winner of the State Level Science Seminar 2021. The First Runner’s up was bagged by Chaangsangla Y of Wela Foundation School, Tuensang and Second Runner’s up was bagged by Arizongla of Jubilee Memorial School, Mokokchung.
Earlier the program was chaired by Assistant Director, DSE, Visetonuo Angami and vote of thanks was pronounced by Jangsemba Tzudir.
