The Street Piano Festival, as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), Kohima Street Carnival was held at Old NST Parking, Kohima on 29th September 2021. The event was organized by Kohima Smart City in collaboration with Brillante, the Nagaland Piano Festival. The Street Piano Festival witnessed live piano performances in the open from a host of piano performers of all ages. The street piano festival will also be a curtain raiser for the third edition of Nagaland Piano Festival, Brillante. It started in Nagaland in the year 2017. The third edition will be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is an international event, and eight countries are confirmed to take part in the Festival which will be held from 19th, 20th and 21st November 2021. The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. Smart Cities Mission (SCM) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has planned numerous events across 100 Smart Cities between 26th September to 2nd October 2021 as part of 75 weeks of celebration under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. As one of the initiatives Smart Cities have been advised to undertake a 75 hour urban transformation implementation event with the objective of reimagining public spaces in their cities and impacting the citizens, keeping in mind COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. Accordingly, the Kohima Smart City in collaboration with Kohima Municipal Council and other government departments, local music and fitness institutes and citizen based organizations is organising ‘Kohima Street Carnival’ from 29th to 2nd October 2021 along New NST to Razhu Point, covering an array of events targeting all groups of citizenry. Some of the events lined up in the coming days areZumba in collaboration with De Operettas Music Institute, Busking in collaboration with TaFMA, Street Health Clinic for Senior Citizens with Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Flower Exhibition and Sale with Kohima Village Women Organisation, Cyclothon with Nagaland Mountain Biking Association, Blood Donation Camp with the Voluntary Blood Donors Association, etc. Other events include Street Food Festival, Painting Competition, Walkathon and Street Carnival for children.
