The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) marked the culmination of its one-month Summer Internship Programme 2023 with a ceremony held at the Deputy Commissioner Office Conference Hall in Kohima on 18th August 2023.

In an engaging address to the participating law students, NSLSA Member Secretary Victo Sema, NJS, urged them to diligently cultivate a profound legal understanding to secure a promising future in the field of law. Sema emphasized that the commitment to studying serves as an investment that extends beyond academic years and extends into their professional practice. While the legal profession commands respect, it also necessitates unwavering effort and dedication, he noted.

Sema provided valuable advice, encouraging the interns to maintain coherence and consistency, along with a willingness to make sacrifices while cherishing the learning process. The legal landscape is extensive and offers self-employment opportunities, which can be exceptionally lucrative if approached with passion. Additionally, Sema highlighted avenues like judicial exams within the government and other branches, exclusively accessible to individuals with a legal background.

During the event, Kohima District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) retainer lawyer Sunjib Rana interacted with the law interns, and the programme was chaired by State Panel Lawyer Cherry Ovung. The interns shared their insightful experiences, and certificates were conferred to acknowledge their participation.

Throughout the internship initiative, which commenced last month, interns received the privilege of directly observing court proceedings at both high and subordinate courts, engaging in diverse activities organized by District Legal Services Authorities. Moreover, they visited and interacted with individuals at District Jails, Old Age Homes, Children's Homes, and other relevant establishments.
