Swachhata Hi Seva (Visually Clean Village) 2022 campaign with "Remove Legacy Waste and Improve Visual Cleanliness in the Village" as its theme started on 21st September 2022 at Kohima Village covering 5130 households. The campaign was organized by PHED Kohima Urban Division and sponsored by Sanitation & WSSO, PHED, Nagaland: Kohima.

Executive Engineer, PHED Kohima Urban Division Er. Supongyanger Aier highlighted the importance and objectives of the campaign. He said that the celebration of Swachhata Hi Seva is from 15th September to 2nd October every year and is focused to eliminate single-use plastics. This initiative is for undertaking voluntary (Shramdaan) activities to generate Mass Movement (Jan Andolan) through community participation for clean villages (Sampoorn Swachh) in commemoration of Swachh Bharat Diwas (2nd October). Under this campaign, cleaning of garbage/ wastes at vulnerable sites in the village, creating awareness for segregation of waste (dry & wet) at source, construction of waste collection and segregation sheds/ centres, Door to door collection of non-biodegradable waste like plastics, and keeping the area near water bodies clean and doing tree plantation around them are taken up.

SDO (Civil) Sadar, Chonpen Ezung reminded the public about the DC's Order regarding the ban on single-use plastics and encouraged the citizens to come forth and give active participation and cooperation for the success of the campaign. The volunteers were made into four groups along with the department officials and District Administration for a cleanliness drive after the Pledge was taken.
