Public Health Engineering Department Phek division observed Swachhata Hi Seva campaign on the theme “Visual Cleanliness” from 15th September to 2nd October 2022. Aiming to generate greater community participation and reinforce the concept of “Sanitation as everyone’s business”. To kick off the campaign, Gram Sabha meeting on Open Defecation Free Plus elements and Swachhata Hi Seva was conducted in all four blocks-Phek, Chozuba, Meluri, and Pfutsero under Phek District. The participants include Swachhagrahis and WATSANs from every village also known as foot soldiers of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Following the campaign, a wide variety of activities were carried out in almost every village under Phek district led by Swachhagrahis and WATSANs, such as cleaning garbage sites, public places like Anganwadi centre, Panchayat Hall, village approach road and water bodies, plantation of trees at water sources, wall painting, poster campaign, create awareness on the ill effects of Single-Use Plastic by organizing Gram sabha at village level and passing resolutions for the ban on SUPs. The campaign was carried out successfully with active participation from every corner of the district.
