Sakhi-One Stop Centre and District Administration Mon, in collaboration with State Resource Centre for Women, organized a training and capacity-building programme for the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and other stakeholders dealing with the prevention of human trafficking and rehabilitation of victims on 7th July 2022 at DC’s Conference Room, Mon.

 

Delivering the keynote address, EAC Mon & Nodal Officer, Sakhi- (OSC), Molosangla Ozukum urged all the stakeholders to work together and help the government agencies to fight against the social evil of human trafficking. She believed in creating more awareness of the trend of cyber trafficking which is on the rise in the present day.

SDPO Mon, Imtiakum highlighted the concepts, different patterns, and dimensions of human trafficking. He spoke about the cases reported / modus operandi of human trafficking in the District and the role of Anti-Human Trafficking Units.

Panel Lawyer, DLSA Mon spoke about the existing response system and legal mechanism to address Human trafficking.

Case Worker (OSC), Anyim Konyak highlighted the rescue and rehabilitation services for trafficked women & children through the schemes under the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. Director HADO, KBBB, Y.P Wilson Konyak emphasized the role of civil society in preventing human trafficking.

The programme concluded with a joint deliberation by all the participants about the challenges and way forward to address human trafficking. It was attended by ADC Mon, officers from Social Welfare and other Departments, and representatives from various NGOs and Civil Societies.
