ATMA, Kohima district conducted a 6-day training programme on Poultry Management from 19th April to 24th April 2021 in Association with  State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE). The resource persons were Farm Manager, Dr. Thepfudithou Shüya and BTM Tseminyu Block, Dr. Vibeilie Keretsü. The main objective was to impart training to rural youths on Agri & Allied areas to promote employment of rural areas and creation of skilled manpower to perform farm and non –farm operation.

The two main sub-topics under Poultry Management covered during the training programme were on “Poultry feed Management” and “Disease and Preventive measures in poultry farming”. During the training sessions, the Resource persons shared on their experiences and precautionary measures to tackle any disease infections, measures in feeding habits, to give the right feeds at the right stage. Dr. Shüya stated poultry as one of the fastest growing and most profitable agri business in the current market scenario and encouraged the youth to pursue, starting from own backyard, to start doing with own hands instead of hiring labour. Field visit to poultry farm was also conducted where the resource persons gave a thorough explanation on pen maintenance where hygiene condition is a necessity. Different stages of poultry and feeds were also showed to the participants.

The training programme was attended by 17 youths from different villages under Kohima district and certificates were distributed to each participant.
