A Tribal Artisans Empanelment Mela (TAeM) organised by the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affair, GoI was conducted at Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Kohima on 27th August 2026.
Joint Director, Industries and Commerce, Hojeto K Suqhe while addressing on PM Vishwakarma and TRIFED Collaboration extended his appreciation to Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for the initiative in recognizing, supporting and upliftment the well-being of the artisans of Nagaland by not only showcasing their handicrafts, but helping them to get understanding of the demand of the market.
Stressing on the PM Vishwakarma scheme, a flagship central scheme designed to support traditional craft people, he informed that 2000 artisans from the state have been registered and trained in six trades, and stated that the TAeM program have leverages the core trade programs under the Ministry of MSME and Ministry of Tribal Affairs in combining capacity building and market demand so that this improved mechanism can directly plug into the nationwide build market channels, ensuring sustainable livelihoods and global visibility for regional craftsmanship.
Calling on the artisans for their participation, he urged them to take this opportunity to expand their activities for sustainable livelihood and also asked them to gain access through TRIFED commercial network so that the core objective to identify, register and direct source handicraft products from indigenous artisans can be materialize without middlemen, intermediaries, and market care constraint.
Senior Programme Executive, TRIFED, Asif Ekbal Hussain, while speaking on Tribal Artisan Empanelment Mela said, TRIFED has a mandate to give livelihoods to tribal all over India through different schemes and marketing platform and informed that in Nagaland, the nodal government department implementing TRIFED under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs schemes are the Department of Forest, DUDA, Marcofed, and Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission.
He informed that Northeast region has about 3,500 artisans out of 5000 artisans all over India, and said TRIFED is giving them the Marketing platform by having them registered and being directly pendant with them. He also informed that once registered, one sample of the product is sent to committee for checking its quality, the price and demand assessment for recommended purchase. He also advised the artisans to adopt whole sale price rather than high retailer margin to secure bulk orders and promote cultural heritage, and encouraged them to have precise calculation of product to ensure profitability and avoid perceived losses during negotiations. He also informed them that registered artisans may also receive opportunities to participate in national exhibitions.
State Programme Management Unit, PM Vishwakarma, Suneptula Jamir chaired the programme and also proposed the welcome address during the programme.

TRADITIONAL MEETINGS AHEAD OF 9th NLA SESSION
The traditional meeting of all 60 Legislators of the 14th House will be held on 31st August, 2026, at 3:30 PM at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, Kohima, in view of the 9th Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, summoned from September 1, 2026. All Legislators have been requested to attend the meeting as desired by the Leader of the House.
In a separate notification, the traditional meeting of the NPF Legislature Party will also be held on 31st August at 2:30 PM at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex. All Members of the NPF Legislature Party have been requested to attend the meeting as desired by the Leader of the Legislature.
