On 30th July 2023, Tuensang District observed the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons at CKS Hall, Tuensang. The program was organized by the Tuensang District Administration, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Tuensang, and Sakhi-One Stop Centre Tuensang in collaboration with Changsao Thangjam Setshang Tuensang.

In his short speech, Sentilong Ozukum, SDO (C) Tuensang, emphasized the significant role women play in Naga society and the importance of upholding their contributions to families and society. He highlighted various schemes for women, such as PMMVY (Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana), providing maternity benefits, and skill development training for school dropout girls and boys, which are being provided by the government.

Chulongla Chang, Administrator of Sakhi-One Stop Centre Tuensang, stressed the vulnerability of young people, especially women, and children, to trafficking outside the state. He pointed out that poor economic conditions and lack of employment opportunities often make them susceptible to trafficking, leading to inhumane living conditions, physical abuse, and forced involvement in the sex trade.

The program included a welcome address by Asenla, President of CTS (Changsao Thangjam Setshang), and a presentation on trafficking by DEF Tuensang Women Cell. Bendang Mongzar chaired the program.
