The fourth phase of the seminar titled “Weaving Heritage: Propagating Sustainable Community Life in Harmonious Co-existence with Nature through the Cultural and Traditional Ethos and Values of the Tribal Kukis in Nagaland” was successfully held at the Conference Hall of KCC N/S, Molvom Village under Medziphema Sub-division on 4th October 2025.
Sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of DONER, Government of India, the seminar was jointly organized by Gracious Society, Ahthibung, in collaboration with the Kuki Students’ Organisation, Nagaland (KSON) and Kuki Inpi Nagaland (KIN).
The program was formally inaugurated by L. Singsit, IPS (Retd.), President of KIN, who in his inaugural address emphasized the need for the younger generation to embrace their cultural roots while adapting to modern changes responsibly. He also highlighted that the essence of Kuki tradition lies in the community’s deep respect for nature and collective living.
Distinguished resource persons who spoke in the seminar included: Lensei Lotjem, Chairman, Custom and Culture Board, Kuki Inpi Nagaland (KIN), David Hanneng, Assistant Professor, Burdwan University, West Bengal and Hoineichin Singson, MSW, Social Worker and Founder of Gracious Society.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from community leaders, students, church leaders and local residents, fostering a lively exchange of ideas across generations.
The event underscored the significance of preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Kuki tribes while promoting sustainable and harmonious community living with nature.
As part of the event, a tree sapling was also planted to symbolize the commitment to environmental sustainability and the continuity of traditional values.
