A wildfire erupted around Pellhang village under Ahthibung Sub-Division, Peren District on 25th March, 2021 evening, causing havoc and endangering the lives of the people.

            Properties worth lakhs of rupees were gutted down and destroyed in the fire. Huge area of plantations viz., rubber, pineapple, areca nut etc. were also badly affected. Huts and other properties belonging to around 25 households were also destroyed in the fire.

            The timely intervention of the Fire and Emergency Services (Jalukie) and the OC Ahthibung and his team, prevented any further causalities.

            The village authority has appealed to the concerned authority to look into the matter at the earliest.
