Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of Wokha District Sports Council, Ajit Kumar Ranjan IAS unveiled the Official Logo and Flag of the Wokha District Cricket Association (WDCA) on 22nd July 2023 at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall in Wokha.
During the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Ranjan congratulated the new team of WDCA office bearers led by Chenithung Humtsoe. He expressed optimism that under the new team's leadership, the cricket association will progress and elevate the sport to higher standards. Ranjan also lauded the association's efforts in promoting and providing a platform for young cricketers in the state.
Khyolamo Humtsoe, along with Suben Ezung, David Shitio, and Vishal Diwan briefly shared insights into the concept and design of the logo and flag.
Moreover, Deputy Commissioner felicitated Nzanthung Mozhui, the first cricket player from the Lotha community, who was selected to represent the Nagaland cricket team in the Ranji Trophy. He also honored Merayani Kikon, the first Lotha woman to participate in a major cricket tournament organized by the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA).
Thungbeni Ngullie, President of Lotha Eloe Hoho, extended her congratulations to the two players for their remarkable achievements, bringing laurels to the district.
It is worth mentioning that the Wokha District Cricket Association was officially formed and established in the year 1983 and emerged as champions in the first Nagaland Saramati Cricket tournament.
The unveiling and felicitation programme witnessed the participation of pioneers of WDCA, senior players from the district, and well-wishers. The programme was chaired by Peter Kikon, while Amos Ezung, Vice President of WDCA, delivered the welcome address, and Chenithung Humtsoe, President of WDCA, conveyed the vote of thanks.
