Apart from the State and National awards for the teachers, Wokha District Planning & Development Board has decided to award cash prizes to the outstanding teachers, the board has decided this to encourage the teachers to produce good results during the HSLC & HSLLC examination, the board has agreed to reserve some amount from LADF Common Pool fund. In this regard, the board entrusted the District Administration and the District school authority to bring out certain modalities/ criteria for teachers to receive the award.
Advisor IT, Science & Technology and New & Renewable Energy, Mmhonlumo Kikon, while welcoming the new DC, urged him to treat the district as his own and to take ownership of all the development processes to ensure that all the development indicators improve during his stay. While speaking on the improvement of quality education in the district, he said that the district administration along with school education and all the stakeholders of the district to be vigilant and monitor that no proxy teachers should be encouraged at any cost to ensure imparting quality education for the sake of the future generation.
Vice-Chairman DPDB Wokha & DC also assured that District Administration along with District School authority will submit in the next DPDB meeting an action plan for overall improvement of education in the district and also for particular schools where special focus is required, DC also assured that draft modalities for cash award schemes for the teachers will be submitted in the next meeting.
While highlighting the status report on Wokha-Bokajan road, EE PWD (R&B) Wokha Er. Mhathung Kikon said that the road is divided into two sections and is looked after by two divisions namely, the Wokha division and Baghty division, from Wokha “O” Point to 52 KM is under the Wokha division, and from 52 Km till Rengmapani is under Baghty division. The latter was handed over to Border Road Organisation (BRO) by the department of PWD (R&B) in the year 2009 – 2011 which the BRO is not maintaining. He said a bridge has also collapsed affecting the connectivity with Bokajan/Dimapur.
He urged the district administration to call a meeting with the BRO to solve the problem at the earliest.
Later in the day Advisor Law & Justice Dr.Chumben Murry along with Vice Chairman DPDB Wokha & DC, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS, and various Heads of Offices visited Longsa village and interacted with the village council and the public.
Dr. Chumben Murry, in his keynote address, stressed the importance of economic recovery at Longsa village, especially in Agriculture production, and added that along with Agri and Allied department personnel, he visited Longsa village to highlight various schemes.
Following Heads of Offices in the district highlighted their activities in the district, DRDA, Agriculture, Horticulture, Soil & Water Conservation, Water Resources, Fisheries & Aquatic, and Forest.
The board also welcomed the new members, DC Ajit Kumar Ranjan IAS, CVO Dr. Sentinungla Ao, DEO (Evl) Zajamo Kikon, DPO, LRD Puthuto, SDO (C) Tsidi, and DFO (Fishery) Rulanthung Ezung.
