The Department of Power, Electrical Division Wokha, installed additional 5 MVA which was commissioned on 14th Dec 2020, in the presence of Chairman Lotha Hoho, Mhondamo Ovung and invoking God’s blessing Rev. Abemo Jungio dedicated the installation.

Executive Engineer, Electrical Division Wokha, Er.Chonrothung Ezung said over the past 15 years the Power demand/consumption has staggeringly increased, yet on the other side the power transformer capacity has not been upgraded or augmented, thereby the existing 5 MVA power transformer is fully overloaded and thereby posing a great threat for breakdown any moment, the existing 33/11 K 5MVA power transformer was installed at Power House Wokha in the year 2005. With the installation of additional 5 MVA the district will now have 10 MVA. The Executive Engineer, Ezung expressed his optimism that Wokha district will have adequate power supply for at least ten to twenty years and added that in view of the power transformer constrain and impending risk, the Wokha division requested and apprised the situation to the Chief Engineer (D&R) Nagaland to allot additional 5 MVA power transformer, which the department has allotted on 9th Nov 2020.

Chonronthung also thanked the State Government and the Department of Power on behalf of the citizens of Wokha district for timely intervention which will greatly benefit the well being of the district. He also expressed his gratitude to his subordinate staff for completing the installation process within three (3) week to present it as a gift to the citizens of Wokha district.

Chairman Lotha Hoho, Mhondamo Ovung who graced the occasion as special invitee thanked the State Government as well as the Department of Power on behalf of the Lotha Hoho and Lotha community for the special privilege bestowed upon the community. He also thanked Er. Chonronthung for his enormous efforts for initiating the new development.
