The Urban Local Body (ULB) by‑election for Ward No. 8, Tsumang B Colony under Wokha Town Council, was conducted on 16th June 2026 across two polling stations. The voter turnout stood at 69.37 percent.

The by‑election was necessitated to fill the vacancy created following the death of Wokha Town Council Chairperson, Late Khozamo Murry, in December 2025. Two candidates contested the seat: Mhomo Humtsoe on a BJP ticket and Ar. Aling Lotha representing the NPF.

While disturbances and problems arose during the voting process from both the parties, the District Administration under Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Wokha, K. Mhathung Tsanglao, tightened security measures and imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. The situation was brought under control, ensuring the voting process continued smoothly until completion.

Advisor & DPDB Chairman, Mhathung Yanthan, accompanied by MLA Mhonbemo Humtsoe, also visited the polling stations to oversee the conduct of the election.
