WRC Mokokchung under Women Resource Development was inaugurated by Vilone Sakhrie, Director, Women Resource Development on 23rd November 2022. 

While inaugurating the Centre, Sakhrie apprised the gathering that due to the Pandemic and Post-Pandemic difficulties, the inauguration of the Centre was delayed. Nevertheless, he assured that various women-centric programmes and activities shall be implemented as per the needs and requirements of the District in due course of time. Also, while applauding the Department’s long partnership with the Watsu Mungdang for implementing various programmes in the District, and sensing the need to upgrade the skills and activities of the women in the district he further assured that, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties, various collaborative activities will be charted and implemented accordingly. 

S. Arenla Longkumer, President, Watsu Mungdang gave a brief description of how the concept of the Women Resource Centre, Mokokchung was conceived and pursued by Watsu Mungdang. She elaborated on the vision of Watsu Mungdang about the future programmes and activities to be taken up. 

During the closing remarks, T. Thungbemo Patton, WRDO & Officers In-Charge Mokokchung informed that the basic foundation of Cooperation between the Department and Watsu Mungdang shall be based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties on 20th February 2020 in the Office Chamber of Commissioner & Secretary, Women Resource Development. He also informed that apart from the clause reflected in the MoU for the mutual benefit of both the parties to bring socio-economics empowerment in Nagaland, both parties will work together in various areas in the future. 

The Inaugural programme was followed by the training of 30 beneficiaries on Post-Harvest, Processing, and Value Addition under the initiatives of Nzanthung K Yanthan, Assistant Director & Officer in charge of Food Processing.
