A two-day workshop on Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Management (DIDRM) was organized by the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities on 14th and 15th July 2022. The resource person was Technical Advisor Inclusion, Dr. Shivani Gupta.
Participants included NSDMA and SDRF team members, NGOs, and organizations working with children, women, the elderly, and Persons with Disabilities.
Day 1 of the workshop included sessions on Understanding Disability and intersectionality, Barriers faced by persons with disabilities, Diverse requirements of different disability groups, and legislative mandates for Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DIDRR). Day 2 focused on Community mapping and strength and weakness analyses, stakeholder analyses, developing a disability-inclusive disaster management plan, feedback of groups, and data collection and inclusive budgeting.
The two-day workshop is part of the project being carried out by the office of the State Disability Commissioner to ‘Strengthen Disability Inclusion in Disaster Management in Nagaland’.
