A workshop on Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, Strengthening Micro Food Processing Eco System and availing MoFPI Schemes, initiated by ASSOCHAM North Eastern Region Development Council under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, in partnership with the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland was held at Niathu Resort, Dimapur on 12th March 2021.
Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Industries & Commerce, Kekhrievor Kevichusa said that the scheme is to access the entrepreneur in their primary work and also help them in branding, marketing, packaging and enhanced compliance with food quality and standards. He also mentioned that with the scheme, the Department intends to build up the food processing environment in the State and added that the Department is planning to set up a food tasting lab. Through food processing lab, it will enable the entrepreneurs in the market, help in setting standards.
Director, Industries & Commerce, K Hokishe Assumi, encouraged the people in the business of food processing and asked them to make the best out of the workshop.
Director, Frigoscan Food Tech Pvt Ltd, Chennai Shankaran Ramamurthy in his keynote stressed on the crucial role of micro and small industry in food sector. He encouraged the North Eastern states to get into the scheme as it will help the products from the region reach its potential to make it to national market.
In the technical session, special presentation on Pradhan Mantri formalization of micro food processing enterprises (PMFME) scheme under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan was presented by Nodal officer for PMFME Scheme, Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Mhasiphizo Michael Khezhie. NEH Region on Opportunities related to the PMFME scheme was presented by Joint Director, ICAR. Business Opportunities in food Processing Sector and financial schemes were presented by Assistant Manager, NABARD, Nagaland.
