The Department of District Urban Development Agency, Wokha organised a one-day programme on Women Empowerment & Upliftment for Self Help Groups (SHGs)/ Day-NULM at VDB Hall, Wokha on 13th April 2023.

Deputy Director, Urban Development, Wokha, Kiniholi Kinimi, while giving the opening remark urged the participants representing various self-help groups to strengthen their activities in order to carry forward their groups to a greater heights. She also apprised the gathering that through SHGs women entrepreneurs are provided with micro loans to sustain their business and stated that depending on their activities and efforts various kind of help are being extended and appealed to be more active. She also highlighted the various schemes and loan policies available.

Manager, Nagaland Rural Bank, Wokha, W.Longshithung Tsopoe, who also spoke during the function, said Government support the SHGs by providing skill based training and administrative help to build successful business and urged them to avail the opportunity available.

He also encouraged them to inculcate the habit of saving using banking facilities among members, and urged them to properly maintain book records and other activities records in order to maintain transparency. He also urged them to following digital mode of transaction as now the system is emphasising to do transaction digitally.

During the second session, discussion on basic training and hand holding support to SHGs were held which was conducted by CO, DUDA, Wokha, Myingthunglo Ezung.

The function was chaired by CMM, DUDA, Wokha Echungbeni while vote of thanks was proposed by CO, DUDA, Wokha Renbeni Odyuo.
