Medical department in Collaboration with NYSK Longleng observed World AIDS day at Longleng with the theme "End Inequality, End Aids, End Pandemic" on 1st December 2021 at Longleng Town Ao Baptist Church.

Guest speaker Dr. Kibangkumba, Medical Superintendent (MS), DH Longleng said one should not discriminate people having HIV/AIDs, and decimate awareness in the community. HIV/AIDS is one most serious issue we are facing.

When a person get infected with HIV, and slowly starts suffering with some other problems or diseases we called it as AIDS, HIV infect our human defence system and when a person health become defenceless by the HIV virus, any disease can affect a person most commonly T.B.

Through the advancement in science, ERT treatment for HIV has been developed- a treatment which slow down the increase of virus in a person’s body.

He also said stigmatization is the main problem; people don't come forward for testing because of discrimination. Two most important transmission routes of HIV, from person to person, are unprotected sex and sharing of needles.

Dr. Obangjungla CMO Longleng shared about the significance of the day. A. Mane Phom, Retainer Lawyer District Legal Service Authority Longleng shared about the legal aids to PLHIV. Shamthai President ENWO and Mongnyei C. Phom, NYV longleng also spoke at the programme. Invocation prayer was pronounced by Lipom, vaccinator DH Longleng, and vote of thanks was delivered by Shahshing Phom, President Longleng District users network. Earlier the programme was chaired by M. Lithei Phom, DSRC counsuller. The programme was attended by the district Administration, NGOs and Students.
