Along with the rest of the world, the Tuensang Forest Division in collaboration with Chendang Village commemorated World Environment Day on 6th June 2022 at Chendang Village on the theme “Only One Earth”. The programme was sponsored by ECS, NEIDA, Tuensang Forest division, NFMP, PHED, and JJM with Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant, IAS as a special guest.

Samom Khelen Singh, IFS, DFO, Tuensang delivered a keynote address. He emphasized the importance of forests and different laws and acts related to forests and their protection. Short speeches were also delivered by the officials of PHED and Handicraft Society Chendang.

Speaking at the occasion Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, DC, Tuensang stated that due to the hunting practices, huge parts of the forest and its wildlife have already disappeared from the vicinity. He advocated practicing environmental-friendly habits and to reduce the use of plastics and other harmful chemical substances. He also said that each and everyone should realize that the earth is irreplaceable and no other planet can sustain life other than the Earth.

Saplings were planted in the Village. The programme was chaired by C. Bambou, President Chendang Students Union.
