In commemoration of World Environment day 2020 under the theme “Biodiversity”, a programme was held at District Forest office, Mokokchung on 5th June 2020. Mokokchung Forest Department theme on the occasion was “Restoring forest, conservation and livelihood” with an initiative “Adopt a tree”.

Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir while addressing the participants on the occasion said, we need individual and community participation to conserve our environment in a way to create an equilibrium which will enable nature to restore back the human exploitations on environment. Appreciating the initiative “To adopt a tree” taken up the Forest Department, he said the best time to plant a tree is 20 years back and the second best is today and called upon all to contribute back to nature in our own small ways.

Superintendent of Police Mokokchung, Vishal IPS and Chairman Marepkong ward spoke on the need to conserve our environment. The programme was chaired by District Forest Officer Dr.Sentitula IFS.

On the occasion the Dept. distributed plant saplings to all the Heads of Offices (HoDs) under Mokokchung District, to be planted and adopted by the HoDs.
